Position Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Electrical Designer to support the design and coordination of electrical systems for healthcare and federal projects, with a strong preference for candidates experienced in VA Hospitals. The ideal candidate will bring strong technical expertise, project experience in healthcare environments, and the ability to collaborate across disciplines in delivering high-quality design documents. This role is hybrid, with occasional travel required for site visits and project coordination.


Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and develop electrical design drawings, models, and specifications in accordance with applicable codes, standards, and VA design criteria.
  • Assist in load calculations, power distribution, lighting, fire alarm, nurse call, low-voltage, and emergency power system layouts.
  • Coordinate with project managers, engineers, and multidisciplinary design teams to ensure accuracy and quality of deliverables.
  • Support federal healthcare projects by maintaining compliance with client standards, VA requirements, and NEC/NFPA codes.
  • Contribute to design reviews, quality control checks, and project documentation.
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to junior designers, while collaborating closely with licensed engineers.


Qualifications

  • 5+ years of electrical design experience, with a focus on building systems.
  • Experience in healthcare and/or federal projects required; VA hospital experience highly preferred.
  • Proficiency in Revit and AutoCAD
  • Strong understanding of NEC, NFPA, and VA design standards.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and team collaboration skills.
  • EIT certification preferred but not required.
  • RCDD highly preferred


Preferred Experience

  • Previous involvement in federal projects (VA, DOD, GSA, etc.).
  • Knowledge of design-build and renovation project workflows.
  • Familiarity with energy-efficient design practices, LEED standards, or sustainable systems.
