JOB DESCRIPTION

The Director of Design and Estimating is a senior leadership role responsible for managing new 

project leads and overseeing the execution of the design and estimating process. This individual 

will lead the existing MHLC designer-estimator and provide construction oversight to ensure design 

intentions are met. The Director of Design and Estimating will be required to foster relationships 

within the team and with potential and existing clients.

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Leadership, Management, Accountability

• lead, mentor, and support design-estimating team members

• monitor the status of projects within design and estimating phases to ensure deadlines are met 

Sales

• schedule consultations to discuss goals, priorities, timeline, and budget

• manage client expectations related to the design and estimating timeline Design

• oversee and create design programs

o conceptual, hardscape, landscape, and lighting plans

o inspirational images

Estimating

• oversee and create comprehensive project estimates

o designs by MHLC

o designs by other landscape architects or designers

o commercial leads fitting for MHLC

QUALIFICATIONS

• 5+ years of experience in residential landscape architecture or design role

• 3+ years of familiarity in landscape construction estimating

• strong design and horticultural knowledge

• bachelor’s degree in horticulture, landscape architecture, or related field

• proficiency in AutoCAD, LandFX, Microsoft Suite, Adobe Suite

• excellent leadership, communication, and client-relationship skills
