About the Role

Seeking a motivated Civil Engineer-in-Training (EIT) to join their Land Development team. In this role, you’ll support the design of residential, commercial, and mixed-use projects and working closely with senior engineers to take sites from concept through construction. This is an excellent opportunity for an early-career civil engineer who wants hands-on experience with grading, utilities, and stormwater design in a collaborative environment.


Key Responsibilities


  • Assist in the design of site layout, grading, drainage, and utilities for land development projects
  • Prepare plans and construction documents using AutoCAD Civil 3D (site, utility, roadway, and erosion control sheets)
  • Perform basic hydrologic and hydraulic calculations, including stormwater runoff, pipe sizing, and detention/retention systems under the guidance of a PE
  • Support the preparation of permit submittals, calculations, and technical reports for local and state agencies
  • Review survey data, zoning ordinances, and design standards to ensure compliance and constructability
  • Coordinate with internal project teams (engineers, designers, surveyors) and external stakeholders (architects, contractors, municipalities)
  • Assist with quantity takeoffs, cost estimates, and construction phase support, including responding to RFIs and incorporating redlines


Qualifications

  • B.S. in Civil Engineering or related discipline required
  • EIT certification
  • 2+ years of experience in civil/site or land development
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD Civil 3D
  • Understanding of stormwater, grading, and utility design principles
  • Familiarity with local codes, standards, and permitting processes is a plus
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work in a team-oriented environment
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational and time-management skills


Preferred Experience (Nice to Have)

  • Experience with HydroCAD, HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS, or similar stormwater tools
  • Prior work on residential subdivisions, commercial sites, or mixed-use developments
  • Experience preparing erosion and sediment control plans
