Position Overview
The Senior Structural Engineer will lead and oversee structural design, analysis, and project management activities for a diverse portfolio of building and industrial projects. This position requires a licensed Professional Engineer (P.E.) and structural engineering designation with proven leadership capabilities, deep technical knowledge, and experience mentoring junior engineers and managing client relationships. The Senior Structural Engineer will ensure the technical excellence, quality, and timely delivery of all projects under their direction.
Key Responsibilities
• Lead and manage structural engineering design projects from concept through construction.
• Perform and review advanced structural analyses and designs for steel, concrete, masonry, timber, and cold-formed steel systems.
• Provide technical oversight and quality assurance for all design deliverables, calculations, and documentation.
• Supervise, mentor, and guide junior engineers, designers, and CAD technicians.
• Serve as primary client contact for assigned projects, maintaining strong relationships and ensuring client satisfaction.
• Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams including architects, contractors, and consultants to achieve project objectives.
• Review and approve design documents, reports, and specifications to ensure compliance with project requirements and applicable codes.
• Manage project schedules, budgets, and resource allocation to achieve profitability and efficiency.
• Conduct site inspections, structural assessments, and provide engineering recommendations for existing structures.
• Stay current with industry standards, materials, and software tools to maintain high technical performance across all projects.
Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (Master’s degree preferred).
• Active Professional Engineer (P.E.) license with structural engineering designation in Georgia, or ability to obtain reciprocity within six months.
• 10+ years of professional experience in structural design, analysis, and consulting.
• Demonstrated success in managing multiple projects, budgets, and deadlines.
• Strong proficiency with AutoCAD, Bentley RAM Elements, RAM Connection, and other structural design tools.
• Experience with cold-formed steel, reinforced concrete, and steel connection design.
• Comprehensive understanding of applicable codes and standards, including IBC, ASCE 7, AISC, ACI, NDS, and TMS.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills with the ability to lead cross-functional teams.
• Proven ability to cultivate and maintain client relationships and contribute to business development initiatives.
